Rachel B. Stork Stoltz, MS
B.A. Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration
Iowa State University 2005
M.S. Biomedical Visualization
University of Illinois at Chicago 2007
Rachel is the owner, illustrator and metalsmith of Anatomical Element. She is also an instructor at Lillstreet Art Center in the Digital Arts & Fabrication Department. She received her BS in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration at Iowa State University and her MS in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also a 2007 Association of Medical Illustrators Vesalian Scholar.
Rachel stayed in Chicago and became the research coordinator and medical illustrator for the Department of Urology at Lurie Children’s Hospital for several years. Her focus shifted to metalwork shortly after as her hobby grew into something more. Rachel now creates anatomically correct, hand fabricated jewelry and metalwork.
In 2013-2015 her husband underwent 2 open heart surgeries to repair and eventually replace his mitral valve. During this time, Rachel’s metalwork shifted to include more patient-centered pieces. This new path brought her to California briefly, where she was the artist-in-residence for the Stanford Medicine X conference in 2014. Her goal is to educate and invoke awareness, giving a visual voice to invisible illness and disease.
Shows & Events
Located in the Bucktown neighborhood, our fest is free and open to the public. We have no gates and no donation request. We have no paid staff – but over 200 volunteers. We could not do what we do without their dedication.
Our artists are not mass producers, they are individual artists who are at their booths to share their work with you.Event Website
